So I’ve decided to start something new while I’m here in Uganda.  My teammate, Tomina, has agreed to do this exercise along with me.  At the end of each day we have decided to tell each other what we like about our current location/situation.  This may be dealing with ministry, our living conditions, the people with whom we have had contact, or even something simple like the weather or the food.  This has been very good for me because I know it will spark many good memories about Africa in the future.

I think so often in my life – even when I am at home – I find many opporunities to complain about my circumstances.  The Lord has blessed me in so many ways and so often I choose to ignore or look over them.  This exercise, if you will, is helping me be thankful for everything in my life and more aware of how good I have things.  Also, it’s makes the little things like a toaster, refrigerated water, or a fan in your room much more special.  So many in the world live without electricity, running water, or plumbing, but somehow I almost always feel like I deserve these things.  If I look at it from another angle- that I am blessed when I receive these things, it helps me not to be frustrated about it when they are not working.

So I am going to attempt to articulate daily what I like about where I am and what I am doing so that I am constantly conscious of what good things surround me and how the Lord blesses me.  Halfway across the world with awesome people that I have only known for less than half a year – wow, God, You truly do more than I could ever ask or imagine.
