All things considered, I want to be seen. Not as someone great or admired for the life I’ve lived.
No, I want to be seen.
Seen for the value that I have been given.
Seen as a barer of the image of God.
I know in your heart, your desire is to be seen too.
Somehow we’ve lost the fundamental truth that you’re value is inherently given. It can’t be taken from you. The only way to lose it is for it to be stolen.
Stolen and replaced with the idea we need to produce to be valued. The devil is hacking hard at the knees of mankind with this lie.
Because, sadly, this lie leads you to a bent view of not only yourself, but all people.
You ether see people as competition to produce more or a handout because you’ve failed at producing yourself.
The former is my struggle with America, the latter is my struggle with traveling abroad (obviously I am speaking in generalities).
Both breed comparison and both are highly unhealthy.
My heart here in Madagascar is to see people who may have gone unnoticed. In the worlds distorted view they are unable to produce, and therefore, have no value.
Sadly these people I wish to see, only see me as a dollar sign.
They can’t see that I notice there inherent value as man. That God placed all that was Himself on them. That even trapped and broken in sin they still have a reflection of Him in them.
Unfortunately, they only see me in the way they measure themselves. All they seem to want from me is money. When what I want to give them is a restored identity. Founded on a belief that they are seen and loved regardless of your actions. That man is the ultimate reflection of God, glorified in Christ, and manifested in the Church.
I hate the way this hellish way of thinking causes you to view God as well.
Don’t be confused, he will reward those who are in Him and have served him faithfully.
But His love for you is given freely. He delights in how much of Himself He sees in you, not what you can or can’t produce for Him.
This is how I want to be seen.
Free of contingencies that determine my value.
Loved because I’m made like my Father.
