My apologies to anyone who has come across my blog in the last week only to find nothing posted.
My name is Mark Andrew Rowdon. Although, if you are at my blog page, you probably already know my name, I just figured that was as good a place as any to start. I’m twenty four years old and was born on February 17th1987, in Charleston, SC. I wasn’t the only member of my family born on that day. That’s right! I’m a twin, an identical twin to be exact. Only those other twins out their can know how awesome being a twin really is. My twin, Charles, is a brother and a best friend rolled into one. God blessed me with a twin and I’m so grateful he did because I feel being a twin has helped greatly shape me into the person I am today. Charles isn’t my only bother either. I have an older brother named Bill who, even though I have never admitted it, I really looked up to him growing up. He is only a year older than me but I learned a great deal from seeing how he handled different situations as I knew I would be doing similar things the following year. The rest of my family is comprised of a younger sister Annie, whom I love, and my parents Craig and Toni who have done a great job raising us kids.
I was fortunate enough to have grown up attending Immanuel Bible Church (IBC) a non denominational Christian church, in Springfield VA. This church introduced me to God and I can’t thank my parents enough for taking my brothers and myself every week. Growing up with an appreciation of a loving and forgiving God is something I wish all children were exposed too. The love of Christ gives purpose to an otherwise meaningless world.
Three somewhat interesting facts about me (as that was the title of this blog) other than my family history and the Church I grew up in:
- I rode a bicycle from Carson City NV, to VA last summer. A trip that changed my life.
- I have a Bachelors degree in Nursing from George Mason University. A degree I currently have no intention of using. (I will talk more about this in future blogs)
- I have had shoulder problems on my right side since I was a junior in high school and as a result of this have learned to do most things equally well, if not better, with my left hand.
Up till now in my life I have never really been big into social networking or social media. I’ve been cautiously afraid of wasting extreme amounts of time on my computer or getting “sucked into” things like facebook. That’s not to say I don’t have a facebook account, I just rarely check it (something I am working to change so I can stay in touch with more people). The reason I never created a blog, other than not really knowing how to create one, was because I didn’t think people would find my thoughts and perspective on the world interesting. However, I’ve been reading current racer’s blogs the last few weeks and love the idea that fellow believers can share how God is working in their lives. I look forward to sharing my experiences and thoughts with you. God Bless, YBIC Mark
