Our team shared God’s Love on Valentine’s Day. We started the day working with Brett Medlin, a missionary who coordinates a soup kitchen in Phnom Penh. The soup kitchen is one of the ministries of CHOICE: Charitable Humanitarian organization In Cambodia by Expals. Each day, CHOICE feed approximately 60 homeless Khmer one substantial meal and safe drinking water. Preference is given to children, the elderly and those who are disabled.   Half our team helped handed out meals to the homeless while the other half of us went to a nearby AIDS Hospital.

We had the opportunity to serve patients in the Palliative Care Unit at Ket Mealea Cares Hospital. These are HIV+ Aids patients who are dying from the last stage of the disease. It was an awesome, humbling experience to give out meals, pray with, and provide words of encouragement to the patients and their families.

Our team met back up and gave out meals left from the soup kitchen to families waiting with their children outside of Kuntha Bopha Children’s Hospital in Phnom Penh. This was an incredible site-hundreds of families waiting outside the hospital for medical attention. This was an overwhelming task as it was hard to decide which children to give the food to since their were so many families and only about a dozen meals.

In the evening, we taught English to our regular 2 classes.

I can’t think of a better way to spend Valentine’s Day then sharing God’s Love with others.
