After a 2 hour aerial tour of the BC coastal mountains (extremely beautiful, by the way) my flight has brought me back to Vancouver to wait on a different, more mechanically operational plane which will take me to Hong Kong. One of the flaps wouldn’t close all the way, so they dumped some fuel to get our weight down for landing and brought us back to Vancouver airport. While definitely the most high speed landing I’ve ever experienced (extra weight + lack of flap control = higher speed), it was otherwise completely normal. A few hours delay, a complementary dinner at subway, and I’ll be off again – my dream of getting to exit a plane on one of those auto inflating slides will still have to wait.

VERY thankful for free wifi and a computer with which to use it!
