Here we are, a mere 5 hours from being airborn on our way to our first world race destination: Thailand.
We’ve spent the last day or two cutting down the weight in our packs to fit the maximum of 44 lbs on Thai airlines, leaving behind even more than we already have. Books, toiletries, and comforts from home such as peanut butter were all taken out and left behind for those over the limit. I tell you, if I weren’t already at 44 lbs, it would’ve been Christmas.

There’s been some new info in the last few days on where we’re going too – my small team (which we’ve dubbed seven:eleven for the word Corban in Mark 7:11, which means gift devoted to God, and also for our love of slurpies and the fact that we are 7 people going around the world for 11 months) and I are going to be located
in Ratchaburi province on the Burmese border. It’s about 2 hours west of Bangkok. There are several ministry opportunities there, including a university english club, a local orphanage, and partnering with YWAM to minister to youth in the area. Reaching the younger generations is key in Thailand as the problems with human trafficking start with the sale and trade of rural youth.
The Philippines have been to our route, which I just realized I haven’t posted here (sorry!). So, here’s the plan: Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines, China (probably for Christmas), Mozambique, Swaziland, Mexico, Guatemala, and Nicaragua.
So what do you do to commemorate your last night in North America? We opted for root beers, pizza, and a game of settlers. Can’t think of a better way to say goodbye.
