How do I describe Training Camp?
Wow.
I told myself I wanted to wait a little bit before writing this blog so that I could process the incredible experience I had at Training Camp.
Well, here we are a week later, and I am still staring at a blank page trying to will the words to come out.
I’m going to do my best, but I have a lot of squadmates who are extremely gifted blog writers (Honorable mention: Kayla Zilch) who’s blogs I recommend you read if you want a better picture of what Training Camp was like.
In the months prior to Training Camp, I experienced a rollercoaster of feelings.
I was excited beyond comprehension.
I was scared of taking this next step.
I was nervous of the impression I may make.
I was joyous at the opportunity I’d been blessed with.
And so on…
I read blog after blog after blog and all that I gained from each one was an affirmation of one or more of those feelings, along with others.
A universal theme throughout all of those blogs though was that I shouldn’t have any expectations going into T.C. because it wouldn’t be like anything I could possible imagine. However, when you read something like that, rather than doing away with expectations, they just get shifted. At least, that’s what happened to me.
So I went into Training Camp with an expectation. An expectation to have my mind blown. An expectation to see God move in ways I’ve never experienced before.
If I can recommend something to future racers, it’s not to go into Training Camp with no expectations. It’s to go into Training Camp with one expectation: To see God move. If you go into it with that expectation, I can easily guarantee that you will not be disappointed.
I learned a lot of things at Training Camp. In fact, I learned so many things, that each time I have told someone about my experience at Training Camp, I tell it a little differently.
The most important thing I learned though, is that the Holy Spirit is not something I can put in a box and take out whenever I feel like it. When you are able to get out of that mindset and are ready to embrace Him and surrender fully to the work and action He can take in your life, then you will experience Him in a way you could never have expected.
Don’t place Him in a box. When you are willing to experience all the Holy Spirit has in store, then you will see Him move in ways you could never imagine. And trust me, it’s way better than anything you could imagine too.
Also, I just want to give a quick shout out to these wonderful people who started the week as strangers, and left as family:
