This past weekend I had the awesome opportunity to serve as a guest home leader for the D-Now at Matthew Road Baptist Church, Relentless. It was both an awesome experience and extremely exhausting. Multiple churches were involved so kids from all over Grand Prairie came to participate in the weekend. I think we ended up with around 200 to 250 total this year, which is absolutely incredible. I saw kids be transformed by the power of the Gospel as Christ’s sacrifice for them individually finally struck home. The Holy Spirit moved this weekend in a remarkable and “Relentless” way.

It can be said that there is little as moving as witnessing so many youth students encounter and worship the Lord together the way they did this weekend. It is my prayer that this not be some “spiritual high”, but that it continues to be a lifelong impact in the kids’ lives and the lives of everyone they come into contact with.

There was one specific song that the band led us in that was particularly impactful. It was “Good Good Father” by Housefires. The lyrics to the chorus are:

You’re a good good father
It’s who you are, It’s who you are
Its who you are
And I’m love by you
It’s who I am, It’s who I am
It’s who I am

Incredible. It’s so simple, but so true. He is a good good Father. Despite whether you grew up with a providing, loving father, or your dad was never there for you, we all have an eternally good and perfect Father in Heaven who loves us and cares for us all individually. He is Good.

I needed this song. Being in the fundraising process can be so frustrating and disheartening. At the same time though, it can be so glorifying to God if viewed in the right context. My goal for the race is $16,267 and, having only a few hundred dollars so far, this seems like an insurmountable goal. In the few short weeks I have been fundraising so far, I have gone through periods of great encouragement as I recognize the Lord working in this process and also periods of great discouragement as the goal continues to seem so great to accomplish.

After worshipping to this song various times this weekend, I was reminded of my own shortcomings and ultimately, the Lord’s goodness. He is great beyond words. As long as I depend on my own will and ability to raise the funds, I will constantly feel discouraged. However, the Lord is good. He has called me to this ministry and I have confidence that He will provide the necessary funds through the churches and people who have loved and invested in me throughout the years. He has provided a direction, and I know He will provide a way for His will to be done and His name to be glorified. As long as I maintain this attitude, I can only be encouraged as I see God work in wonderful and miraculous ways.

This is not saying it won’t take any effort on my part, but the effort will have included in it a complete dependence on Him to provide the necessary results. Regardless of what happens, He has a plan. It will be done. He will be glorified. I’ve included a link to the song.
