I like shoes. A lot.

A few weeks ago I was cleaning up my apartment and rounded up 11 pairs of shoes in my living room, entryway and bedroom. Oh, and one pair  in the bathroom, too. I had worn them all within the past week.  And now, I have to get rid of them.

…well, most of them.

It’s time for the big garage sale/move and I thought I’d give you a glimpse of what has been done so far. For anyone out there who doesn’t know, after the layoff I decided to move in with my sister, who lives outside of Houston, for the remainder of my time in the States. My last day at work was Friday and the craziness of deciding what stays and what goes began on Sunday, March 22.

First, here is what my apartment looked like one week ago. Very nice and neat, if I do say so myself:

I just had to get through my last work week before I could actually start working on the move. Friday after work, along with the amazing Dr. M., I got started on my to-do list.

Here it is. I have since added more things, of course:

Holy smokes, I have a lot to do!
Having it written, though, makes it seem more doable.

My friends Melissa and Laura came over to help get me started on figuring out what to sell and what to keep. It’s a little hard trying to figure out what I’ll need in Houston over the next few months, but for the most part letting go of stuff was a pretty big relief. I hope it all goes!

This is what my apartment looks like now. (Laura is still working; she’s great, and she let me take a break to write this blog.) We got a lot done, but still have a ways to go.

This is what is some of what’s for sale:

What’s on the right is for sale, what’s on the left is what I’m keeping.

I had the hardest time when we got to my closet and my shoes, naturally. But I’m pretty proud because all of the shoes I’ll be getting rid of are in this box. It’s a lot bigger than it looks. Laura taped the box shut. I’m pretty sure she did it so I wouldn’t go back and pick some out to keep.

Bye bye cute shoes! It was fun knowing you, but I’m not going to be a high heeled missionary!!
