On the day we arrived to London for ministry, several of us huddled up in a small room at the very top of the center (aka. Dan Strosky’s room/closet). We made a pact that we’d stick together as a “secret society” of the unfinished, upstairs library, where the majority of our “society” slept in barren closets, along side hammers and saw-dust covered cabinets. It was a neat space, tucked away from the chaos of a busy, holiday outreach. Several nights, we gathered our blow-up mattresses to watch movies and play “steam roller” (where everyone lies face down on the mattresses and one person steam rolls over them, it was hilarious at the time).
But, we often fell soft to the whimpers of sadness when an “outsider” would come upstairs and want to be included. One night, Tara Stephenson came and we couldn’t help but include her when she shamelessly went up and down the stairs countless times to get us goodies from the kitchen. So, at the end of the day, anyone who came upstairs to visit was welcomed in to steam roll and soak up the new paint stench anytime they pleased.
Anyway, our original society consisted of 6 World Racers; Dan Strosky, Ali Page, Josh Markland, Pam Philp, Johnny and me. That first day, when we came together under oath, we forsaw the unneeded stress of planning New Years amongst 32 people. So, we unanimously agreed to stick together, just the 6 of us, to enjoy a night out on the town for New Years Eve.
Before everyone left the center that night…
Then, the 6 of us headed out and here is what we have to show for it…
