Since April I have been on quite the World Race rollercoaster! I was accepted for a route that left at the end of June. I began fundraising through prayer, support letters, speaking at church, a car wash, and selling bracelets. Since beginning this journey I have been blown away by the people who have partnered with me in this journey (I will take this moment to do a shout out to those who have teamed up with me through prayer, financial gifts, fundraising support, and garage sale donations. I am so very thankful for each and every one of you)!
Although support was coming in I was still worried and was feeling very overwhelmed. Then a friend reminded me of Philippians 4:6, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.” It is so easy for me to get in a go, go, go mood and forget to slow down, pray, and wait on the Lord. I slowed myself down and brought this all back to God. Honestly, I was amazed at how quickly peace about the situation came upon me. I decided I was DONE worrying; if I make the deadline great and if I don’t then that is great also. God is writing my story and if I pursue Him then there is nothing to worry about. (I am thinking this is a lesson and a verse I need to hold on to for life!)
Learning this lesson was great because it helped when I realized leaving at the end of June was no longer a possibility. I am now scheduled to leave in September. I am also clinging to Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will make straight your paths.” Things don’t always go the way we think they should; plans change and that is OKAY! God’s plan is greater and is purposeful. Fruit has already come from this change. Through this process I have been learning so much about the Lord’s provision, love, and authority. He is sovereign and good!
So, what now? Like I said I will be leaving in September. I have a whole new team and I am going to a new set of countries. The countries I will be ministering in are Serbia, Albania, Macedonia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Japan, Philippians, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam! I am really excited about this new route and my new world race family!
