The I and G squads united forces in Antigua from June 30th until July 6th. We had a sweet Race Day on Independence Day and it was hiliarous tracking down Americans during our scavenger hunt. We had to make videos of everyone singing the national anthem and reciting the pledge of allegiance. poor people. NEON has travelled from Guatemala City to San Salvador, through Honduras to Jinotepe in Nicaragua. In Nicaragua we stayed at a sweet organic farm in a land of butterflies as we waited for the orphanage space to open up for us! God has truly been spoiling us with his natural beauty in Guatemala and Nicaragua.
Teams NEON & Azariah are on the Isla de Ometepe in Nicaragua for 2 1/2 weeks to work with Cicrin Ministries doing construction, garden projects and playing with the kids here at the orphanage/children´s home. There´s one or two places in the port town of Moyogalpa with internet so keeping up with people is kinda of sparse this month.
I did happen to catch a mild case of dengue but I´m healthy and back to my normal self again, whoo hoo! My body is taking a beating with the walking and construction and illness, but God is restoring me and giving me energy that I need each day.
I´m not gonna lie…this race is hard. Some days I wonder what it´d be like to go back home now, but then that thought just makes me sad. Mission trips like this are truly transforming. The community is so genuine and hard and inescapable that it rocks my world and flips it upside down. People actually see what I do and they notice the tiniest things about me. It´s really something when we come together every night and share how we´re feeling and what we´re processing. I wish it wasn´t so hard for me to communicate all the things God is showing me. I didn´t prepare this blog very well so I´m writing randomly. =p
Thank you again for the prayers as we were working out getting through Honduras. We came through without incident and God brought us to the place He wanted. Every morning I´m praying for more strength to push through the labor and intensity of what lies ahead for me. It blows me away that all my supporters got me here in this blessed place. Hope to write again next week and keep ya in the know!
Let´s Race!
