As sat down to write what God has been speaking to me, it seemed a little familiar. I went through my blog list and sure enough!…I’ve already written about saying yes to the Lord.
Yet here I am again.
Before heading into this season, God told me that I would be going through the fire. It wasn’t a word that was super exciting to receive, but I decided to dive into it. I opened up to Daniel 3 to see what being in the fire was all about. Three things stood out to me:
-
It was in the fire that Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were in the direct presence of God.
-
The only thing they lost was what was binding them.
-
What the enemy purposed for destruction, the Lord purposed for the glorification of His name.
“‘Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.’” -verse 25
“Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God. Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way.’” -verse 28-29
If going through the fire means that I get to be in the presence of God, then yes!
I will go through the fire.
If going through the fire means that what has been binding me will be burned away, then yes!
I will go through the fire.
If going through the fire means that God’s name is glorified, then yes!
I will go through the fire.
I said yes at the beginning of this season, yet it is more than just a one-time decision. As I face the challenges of this time I have to check my resolve. Sometimes I think about an easier way. I think about the security and independence of a job. I think about the ease of a career that doesn’t challenge me. I think about staying in a culture that I understand. But then I think about why I said yes in the beginning. He is worth it.
When the waves rise up, my yes is still yes.
When I feel inadequate, my yes is still yes.
When I fail and I don’t know how to move forward, my yes is still yes.
When it is harder than I ever anticipated, my yes is still yes.
When I get uncomfortable, my yes is still yes.
Resolve
verb (used with object), resolved, resolving.
1. to come to a definite or earnest decision about; determine (to dosomething):
