The Call
I’m a firm believer in the fact that each life on this earth has purpose! Some people would use the phrase “our call”. I’m also a firm believer that very few people actually answer the call out of fear
that it may sound crazy, out of the norm, to big, to hasty, sometimes irresponsible, and even a bit unrealistic.
The call is not for people who are perfect and have it all together. He calls us all!
For example, when God called Abraham, He called him to leave everything to go to a land that was already occupied by many people, clans, and tribes. The crazy thing is that God said I will give you this land.
Wait?
Have you ever thought of the questions Abraham may have had in his mind at this time? Why leave his family, pick up all that he owned and move it to a place that was not rightly His and He had never seen? This wasn’t the only crazy part! See God told Abraham you will be a great nation….umm Abraham didn’t have any children! God said I will bless all the earth because of you! Nation? This guy had everything but descendants didn’t say I will use your wealth, your talents! NO!!! The very thing Abraham didn’t have God was going to use…his weakness!
The most important thing about Abraham's journey is that he developed a very close relationship with God during this time of uncertainty. He always turned to God! Abraham was not perfect, in fact he had many plan B’s but all those ended up being a major headache and he paid a price for it, but ultimately he obeyed!
You may think that I have rabbit trailed but let me pull this all together: You have been called by a God who has given you purpose, wants to equip you, and wants to partner with you in order to do something great while you're on this earth. In John 6, God says that the only work that we need to do is to believe! Our job is to stand on the promise of what God said, that He would give us what we need and He would bless many people through us.
The question is: Do you actually believe that?
You do! Awesome! ![]()
Now next question: Does your life reflect your belief?
We must listen! When God says stay we stay when He says move we move. We must live believing and learning to believe. We may leave family behind and pick up all we own and move to places and into situations that seem impossible or maybe He wants you to remain where you are and to be a faithful witness to those around you daily! I mean God is wanting to use us in ways that
we don’t have any way of knowing how it will happen and we are not equipped in….our weakness!
We may find ourselves saying, “I don’t know how to do this, I don’t have the money, I’m not good with people, I don’t have enough faith!“ (I know I’ve used these excuses multiple times) But you know what?!?! We can learn from Abraham’s faith. When God said move Abraham moved and without hesitation. God blessed that obedience and was ultimately glorified through it.
My friends it’s time to move. We may not have all we need, we may not have all of the answers, or know the end result but we serve the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob! The very same God!
What are we waiting for?
In His perfect time He will provide but we must be obedient to the radical call of God on our lives!!!!
This means sacrifice, this means uncomfortable, this means adventure, but we only have one life to live! And when I finally stand before the One I love….Jesus! I want to know in my heart that I did all that I could to know Him and to lead others into the knowledge of Him! This is the reason I am doing The World Race. I can not sit by and disregard this calling that God has given me. I know that each of us has an intricate part to play in the plan of God so……Brothers and Sisters its time to MOVE!!!!!!
Seek Him
Know Him
Follow Him
That is the challenge I give to you 🙂
With Joy,
Marie Olson
