On our off day last week, it would be a fail to many, but to me, it was one of the greatest. I was with some of my best friends I've made this year.It was so simple and nothing big happened. But this year I've learned a little more about simplicity.
Our plan was to get some wifi for a bit and then head to a pool. Well, considering it rains pretty much every day, it kind of messed up our plans. I have also learned to not really make plans, because something always comes in the way. So it's pouring and we are just watching the rain fall and thinking..what do we do? We decide to walk in the rain and get some snacks for the pool of course! Rain wont stop us. We got some junk food and some wine and started walking. On our way we stopped by a radio station to see if the muzungus (us) could be on. They said to give them a call and they would make it happen. After that adventure we continue to walk to the pool and by this point, mud is all over my legs. We finally get to the pool, it's pretty cold, and we pick a table. We pull out all of our girl time snacks and just relax. We all just sat there for a minute, thanking God for each other and our time we had. We sat there for a couple of hours, celebrating the little things. We talked about our passions and what God has done to our hearts and the new things He has in store. It was such a fun time with my girlfriends. I felt a little normal. I felt like home wasn't so far away.
It really is the little things in life that my heart rejoices over. Being gone for so long, you develop a lot of different perspectives on life. Walking in the rain and mud doesn't seem so bad anymore. Not being rushed to do anything is nice every once in a while. Thank you Lord for showing me how you are in every little detail. You are so cool.
