Malaria has struck my body. Started off throwing up so hard I burst a blood vessel in my eye. Now I’m coughing so hard my insides could explode at any minute. It’s been a rough week being sick. I haven’t gotten to be with the kids because the bed is the safest place for me. I also have no energy, walking across the room feels like I just ran a marathon. My face has no color, people like to tell me that too. Oh Africa. I’m hoping to be better soon!
On a lighter note, I did get to go on a safari! I decided to go because it’s not like I’m hiking or anything. I’m just getting excited to see the coolest animals..EVER! It was a 12 hour long journey to the Maasai Mara tribe. On the way there, we went through tear gas. Let me tell ya, that was the weirdest experience. I was just eating a banana and all of a sudden I went blind! I didn’t want to freak out because maybe it was just a part of me being sick or something? Then my teammate Savannah, eyes watering, says “my eyes are burning so bad!” Then the rest of the van spoke up and we started laughing with confusion. Then our contact said that someone had gotten shot the day before and they were trying to stop the rioting with tear gas. Lucky us! But really, lucky us that we didn’t go the day before! Whew, thank you Lord. Anyways. I got to see all of my favorite animals and I was with some of my favorite people. It was an exciting and amazing adventure, I’m so glad I was able to go! God has been pouring down blessings non-stop.

It’s our last week here in Kitale, Kenya with Great Mercy. Savannah has been raising money for shoes for these precious children. We have made progress but are still in need! We will get them on Saturday. If you want to donate, please look her up and let her know! On Friday we will be having a dance party with the kids here. I already know it’s going to be the best dance party I’ve ever been to! Of course I’ll be making a fool of myself trying to dance like these Africans but, it’ll be fun nonetheless.
Next stop, Uganda! Let’s do this.
