For the last week we were in Nicaragua, we had PVT, Parent Vision Trip. The idea of PVT is for parents of racers to be able to see what they’ve been doing and to do that with them. Our PVT was in the place my team was already doing ministry, Granada. We did so many things that week. All of the families worked at the farm, did a feeding program, prayer walked, and had worship nights. We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Scott and Jenn’s house (where my team and another team had lived the whole month). We all went to see an active volcano and to a Laguna one day as well.
On Wednesday, when we went prayer walking, my parents and I went with my 3 squad leaders and their parents and my squad mentor. We started talking to a group of 3 men and we talked with them for the whole hour and a half we were out there. One of the guys was a man I had talked to and prayed with along with my teammates a few days previous. We were able to share the Gospel with them and all three of them accepted the Lord! It was so amazing to be a part of that!
On Thursday, there was an option to do an extra half day of ministry. My parents and I went to the jail ministry that morning. The previous Thursday, I had gone to the jail ministry and the Lord told me that I would lead worship for the ladies at the jail the next week when my parents would be there. I’ve never played guitar to lead worship before, so I was like, ‘are you sure God?’ But He told me to do it, so I practiced a lot! My parents and I went and I was able to lead worship for the first time at the jail and in Spanish! It was an amazing experience for me. My mom was there along with the other moms who came and racers.
My dad went into a cell called ‘Cell 22’ (it’s all men, so only the men can go in). He shared part of his testimony while he was in there along with a few other guys and 3 of the men in the cell accepted the Lord that day!
Overall, it was an amazing week. I had so much fun spending time with my parents and showing them how my life has changed throughout my time on the race. I loved showing them what I had done all month and where I had lived. It was amazing to see all that the Lord did in the week that they were here.
Thanks again for reading! Look out for my next blog about my time in Costa Rica, coming soon!
