I don’t even know where to begin when telling you about Nicaragua. I completely fell in love with everything and everyone there. We worked with a ministry called REAP Granada and we stayed with the family who runs it. They are missionaries from America who live in Nicaragua full time. Their names are Scott and Jenn and their daughter is Journey. As hosts on the race go, they are phenomenal. They care more about pouring into us and making sure we’re growing in our spiritual walks than anything else.

We did a lot of different things while we were there. Every morning we would go out to the farm that they own and do whatever was needed there. In the afternoons, we went prayer walking around the town they minister to, Pantanal, and just prayed for people and encouraged them. There were also other ministries that would happen throughout the day. We did feeding programs, jail ministry, work at the library, youth groups, Bible studies, and so much more.

Our days off were Saturdays and Sundays, but those were my favorite days of ministry. On Saturdays, I went to the library to be a part of a book club that was just starting! After that, I went to the farm to play handball with a bunch of the guys in the community. I had never played before, it was so much fun! I loved getting to just spend time with the people in the community and try to communicate as best as I could with the little Spanish I know. Sundays were sports ministry day! In the mornings we went out to the fields at the farm where they play softball! There’s a league there and REAP sponsors teams if they agree to come to a discipleship group. They also have kickball going on at the same time. We would run home to grab a quick lunch and then head right back out to pick up all of the girls to go to volleyball. Journey is in charge of volleyball. It’s another way to disciple the people in the community. The girls who play are around high school aged.

One weekend, we did an all night conference for the volleyball girls. It was a great weekend and they had a lot of breakthrough. We learned Spanish songs to lead worship for them and we had people give messages throughout the night. We had creative activities and lots of dancing and games to stay awake. It was an amazing conference and we definitely saw God working in their hearts!

My favorite thing about the ministry, is that they are willing to do what the people in the community need. They don’t stick to one thing, but they listen to the Holy Spirit’s leading on what to do and how to best serve the community. I love everything about Nicaragua, the people, the ministry, the food! Please join me in praying for the people there, that they would break free of their addictions and follow the Lord with their whole hearts. God is moving so much in Nicaragua, I can’t wait to see all He is going to do there!

I love you all, thanks for keeping up with me through my blogs! Check out my next one about the time my parents spent with me in Nicaragua!
