This is a HUGE throw back!
Also, I’ve been on a blog frenzy as we are doing a blog contest and the reward is enough to have me telling you guys everything that you may not even want to know! 😉
Month 6. Zambia. Team “Salty Pursuit”, a combined team of Team Salty and Bright girls, and Dynamic Pursuit girls (Laura, Emily, and myself).
We did ATL month this month (ask the Lord), where we listened to what the Holy Spirit wanted us to do with our days/ time.
This one particular morning, all of us girl went to do a prayer walk (2 days after arriving in Livingstone, Zambia). I really felt pulled to keep walking down the street further than most of the team wanted to so we split into two groups. Emily walked with me and we were praying and I kept asking God for a divine appointment. I then turned down a street and walked about two blocks and we realized we were at what appeared to be a dead end…
I thought to myself– could this really be it?? This street looks abandoned, but I feel as if there should be more right around the corner.. I sat and prayed about it asking God if there was more we were supposed to see, when all of a sudden, a man came out of an auto body shop and introduced himself. His name was Joe and he was curious as to why two white women were on that particular street.
After talking a few minutes, I finally asked if this street was a dead end, or if there was anything beyond what the eyes could see. He laughed and said, beyond the bush that you see of to the right is a bridge that connects you to several different compound communities.
I was shocked!! I was praising God that there was more and that we could explore further!! Sure enough, after walking over the SKETCHY bridge (there were boards missing and I felt that if you made the wrong footing that you could fall through to your death– exaggerated a bit..)
We went off to the left once we came across the first compound we saw after the bridge and this is where my passion for villages comes from. This village had some of the most honest people there, and kids who were filled with joy just waiting to be played with! At this compound I made a few friends, including a woman I started to disciple- Mary, and this cute little boy- Juju. He was precious. God had showed up in ways that I didn’t expect and he gave me so much more! He blessed us with a new community to love and really be a part of! It was incredible!!
When we open handedly ask God to show up and just walk in a direction, it’s amazing how he shows himself! Keep your eyes open for the small moments and really be attentive to the directions he gives! 🙂
