As the launch date for my trip grows nearer I thought it might be really cool to do a few posts that spotlight the countries I will be going to. Each post in this series will highlight a different country on my route.
The first country we will visit is Mozambique.
MOZAMBIQUE
The religious break down:
Religion: 57% Christian (29% Roman Catholic, 16% Zionist Christian, 12% Protestant) 22% Trad. Ethnic, 18% Muslim
UNREACHED: 13.1%
Formerly a Portuguese colony, Mozambique’s official language is Portuguese. It is located in the southern region of Africa. Due to extremely high numbers of HIV/AIDS victims many have been orphaned and still many more live with the daily struggle of being a victim of the disease themselves. Mozambique is a country that is weighed down with widespread poverty as a result of civil war and natural disaster. In spite of these struggles Mozambique is healing economically and moving forward politically with a stable government now in place.
The Church in Mozambique is growing. There is a hunger for the hope of the Gospel, but along with that there is a need for more trained leaders.
Ways you can pray:
This country needs prayer for the growing church. Pray that D squad will come into Mozambique with the message of hope that it’s people need to hear. Pray that God will open up doors for us to build relationships that bring a joy that will break the bonds of poverty and sickness and allow the people to experience the freedom that they have in Christ.
