After
nine months of preparation, twenty-some hours of flying, a 2 hour bus
ride, and an hour boat ride I am officially at our ministry site in
the Philippines!

We spent launch week in Manila and it was intense!
This month, we’re joining up with another team, and working with an
organization called Threads of Hope on the island of Mindoro.

There’s
not much to tell so far, but this place is beautiful, and unique, and
hot. The Filipino people are
extremely friendly and welcoming; I’m sure I’ll learn a lot from them
over the next month. We’re staying at the Pastor’s house, which happens to be minutes from the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen! It sounds like we’ll be spending a lot of time
building relationships, working with the youth on sports ministry,
and doing anything else they ask! This morning, for example, we pulled
garbage (including used diapers) from a ditch in front of the church!
There’s nothing like serving Jesus with “dirt” on your hands!

One
of our team assignments during launch week was to create a video. The
only instructions we were given was to make it about “Things we
Never Knew.”
I
hope you have as much fun watching this as we had making it! God
bless!
