It is the moment we have all been waiting for… it’s Michelle’s birthday (Wednesday)! So, in tribute to my teammate, friend, and sister… this post is all about Mich!

Did you know?
- Michelle is donating her hair to Locks of Love. To do so, it must be ten inches long! So she is enduring the painstaking process of the 1/2inch-a-month hair growing process. I’m sure she will have a party when she finally cuts it…
- Michelle (along with Sara and James) ate a large, live grasshopper at September training refugee camp in order to win extra bread to feed her “family.”
- Michelle is the most popular person in the world. This is a proven statistic calculated through extensive research of her facebook friends, parental blog comments, and daily blog hits. Plus I can’t find one person who doesn’t like her.
- Michelle is the only January 07 racer to maintain a blog theme.
- Michelle is obsessed with books. She will stop in her tracks at the sight of any bookstore and is co-founder of the world race jan 07 book club.
- She loves zebras, dr.pepper, and magnum ice cream bars.

Top 10 Things I Love About Michelle:
10. She shares everything. Laptop. Music. Hats. (I appreciate this trait the more than anyone else I think)
9. She is gifted in being efficient (which can be frustrating on the race, especially in countries that don’t even have a word in their language for “efficient.”)
8. She is a kid-magnet. She can win over any kid in the short span of 2 minutes. And she always learns their names. Every name. Every time.
7. She’ll watch the Office on her laptop with her headphones on and just start giggling hysterically at random points, and no one else knows what is so funny. But it makes me giggle.
6. She cherishes her friendships and challenges her friends.
She has this amazing ability to balance being both incredibly fun and thought-provokingly deep.
5. It makes her happy to serve others. In fact, I’m not sure she can be truly satisfied unless she is doing something for other people.
4. She loves asking the questions that don’t have easy answers.
3. She is awesome at encouraging others. If I voice a lie that I have been hearing from the enemy, she will chime in with “lies! lies! lies!” to drown out my insecurities.
2. On more than one occasion this year, she has been my sanity and the reassuring voice that, in fact, the sky is not falling.
1. She’s got big dreams for new buckets.

Favorite Mich and Mal Moments:
- Remember that one time when we were all crammed into the back of a flatbed truck? Well l had the priviledge of sitting next to Michelle. So for at least the first two hours of the ride, we shared headphones and sang at the top of our lungs. I’m sure it drove everyone else crazy, but hey it was fun for us!
- Once night in Costa Rica, we were both exhausted after a jam-packed week of ministry. I also decided to grieve all my life losses in one night and was feeling quite emotional. There was no chocolate to be found, so we decided to skip church (shhh) and sit on the sidewalk outside and talk. I must have talked and cried for two hours. All I remember is that Michelle listened patiently and reassured gently. She even cried. For me. Because I was hurting.
- In an effort to do something fun as a team (yes, we do have to schedule such things sometimes), we decided to have a one-day scavenger hunt race through Buenos Aires. Our hunt took us through subte stations, stores, parks, museums, and finally the zoo! It was an incredibly fun day with an incredibly fun girl.
There is SO much more I could say, and so many more memories that I will carry with me forever. Love you Mich!
