After two weeks of ministry in Mexico, it was heavy on our hearts to slow down and seek the Lord. It is so easy to set up activities and create schedules, forgetting to continuously ask our Father, “What is it that You want to do here?” “What is Your vision?” So we spent some time in prayer.

Several of the racers felt like we should do some ministry in the Plaza, a central point in the city with seating areas and shops. So there we were Friday night (with loving hearts and really big speakers), starting with Noe’s worship music, performing a drama, and publicly declaring the Truth.

We spent from 6-7pm in prayer. We knew that in order to have a night of powerful ministry, we had to first
pave the way in the spiritual realm. The Lord instructed me, personally, to take off my sandals and walk the perimeter of the plaza, claiming it as holy ground (inspired by the occasions in the Bible, where someone would be in the presence of God and would be instructed to take off their shoes because they were on holy ground). We worked in pairs: one intercessor and one evangelist (one prayer, one talker) per team. We prayed in the power and authority given us by our King. We prayed that every scheme of the enemy would crumble, and we commanded anything demonic to stay away from the area. I really felt the Presence of God in the plaza.

As the talker for my team, and with Mary covering me in protective and encouraging prayer, I had many meaningful conversations. I made many new friends, and I lifted up several people in prayer. Several people went forward to give their lives to Jesus.

The best moment for me actually occurred on Saturday, when we did second round plaza ministry. I was standing in the back, watching for people who seemed to be genuinely interested in the message, being given by Noe. I saw two young men that were listening to every word. I felt the Lord say, “When Noe asks people to come forward, casually ask these guys if they’re ready.” Though it seemed unusual (God does that), I obeyed. I asked the boys “Estan listos ustedes?” and they both looked at me and said yes! They said they wanted to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, so I asked them to follow me to the front. It was the easiest thing I have ever done in my life, because I didn’t really do anything! This is evidence to me, that though oftentimes God chooses to use us (and he used Noe’s willingness to speak truth and my one question), He certainly doesn’t have to.
