Last week we spent 5 days at a campsite in a city, about an hour away from Negotino, flattening out land and building a wall of rocks. This wall, being about 3 feet high, lined a canal the ran along the outside of the camp and provided irrigation to the surrounding fields. The first day the guys on our team built a swing set, while the rest of us dug up dirt, weeds, moved rocks, and found a turtle friend.
Here’s the swing set the guys built.
There was a creek right by the campsite so we would have team time down there or just go in for a dip after working.
Here’s the wall! Aren’t the rocks beautiful with the water?!
I love doing manual labor type of work, so this was a fun week for me, but I would definitely get tired throughout the day.
We had a good time bonding as a team, and that was really nice because we won’t be with the guys next month. Next month the men on our squad are doing what’s called a manistry month, where all the men form a team and do ministry together. Us gals will join the gals from the other coed team and form our own team.
The city that we were in this week was about a half hour to the border of Greece so after our week there we hopped over to Thessaloniki and spent a day and half there. It was a quick trip but so worth it. We walked around the city and found so many random old churches, statues, and buildings. Some of the other teams on our squad were also there so we got to see some friendly faces, which was nice because we will not be seeing them before going to Bulgaria.
We have one week left in Macedonia, and then we’ll be headed to Bulgaria. Time is just a-flying! Pray that we can end our last week here well!
Keep the faith,
Malia
