A Girl Named Wendy

Puerto Barrios became a home for our team. I do not refer to just a house to stay in, but a family who came to love us very much and who we loved in return. I was so touched by many of the people in the church as well as relationships we made else where, one of my favorite such relationships was with a girl named Wendy. Wendy was our wonderful waitress at Pollo Campero, a local chicken fast food restaurant. You see, there was a Pollo Campero about a 5 minute walk from our house so we went there at least once a day, not to mention hat it had air conditioning. With such an attendance record at “the pollo” as we called it, we got to know Wendy fairly well. She is a very sweet spirited girl with a great laugh or maybe I should say giggle. She took such great care of us.

We were able to invite her to our church one evening that we had a special service planned. She came bringing her mom and her little neighbor girl as well. As it ended up, she knew the worship leader of the church, a young guy named Melvin. Apparently they used to work together. Anyhow, she and her family kept coming to church for the remainder of the month. I am praying that she continues to build relationships with the church and come to know Christ as her Lord and Savior.

It was hard to say goodbye to all of our wonderful friends who were now family to us. There were many tears as we said our last goodbyes and gave our last hugs. I pray the Lord’s blessing over all of these wonderful people and I thank God for them everyday.
