That pretty much sums up all squad month so far.
I am currently in my second month of the race and I will be living and doing ministry with the whole squad this month. My squad is ~55 people. We are all in the same house, using the same 6 toilets and bucket showers, making meals in the same 2 1/2 kitchens, worshiping together, and so much more. It look exactly as how I’m sure you’re envisioning it…pure chaos 99% of the time.
But it is also nice, because this will be our first real chance to know people outside our teams on a deeper level. We will hopefully have the time to do one-on-ones in between ministry and our own team times.
I have already gotten the chance to talk with multiple squad mates and walk with them in their certain struggles so far in the race. Some of it is the simple struggle of being an extroverted team leader on a team full of introverts, or losing someone else back home and not knowing how to grieve them here on the field, or not feeling like they fit in or are truly heard on their team. Whatever the struggle, it has been a privilege to hear other people’s stories and have them trust me with them.
Another fun things about being surrounded by people other than your team is you find out people’s personalities. During debrief we analyzed our myers briggs types. Turns out, Mckenzie, the girls I was rooming with is also an ISTP! We ended up talking until 2:30 in the morning about the pros and cons of being an ISTP. There are many on both sides. But we are a rare breed so it was fun to find someone else of the same type!
It has been a theme since India that we should not go into this month with a spirit of comparison. It is so easy in a house full of women (and men) to compare yourself to one another. It is easy to look at someone esle’s team, or how they are “doing as a team leader”, what spiritual gifts they are walking in, how much attention they are getting from leadership, what they wear, I could go on and on and on. But that is not what we are called to as believers. But that doesn’t just apply to being on the World Race, it transcends continents and life stages. Don’t compare where the Lord has you with where he has someone else. “Comparison is the thief of Joy.”
Nepal is amazing so far and I can’t wait to tell you all about it the more time I spend here. Thank you so so much to all of you! Without you THIS WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE! If there are certain things you would like to know please leave questions in the comments section and I will try and answer them in a future blog! (This will also help me to know what to write about that would interest y’all. So much happens here I don’t know what to write about.) Thank you to all of you who have been commenting regularly! It gives me so much joy and is a huge confidence boost to know that people are actually reading what I put out into the interwebs.
Until next time, Gig’em and God bless.

Prayers for this month
– NO COMPARISON
– contentedness and patience in whatever ministry the Lord chooses for my team
– patience when/if growth this month does not look the same as last month
– clarity in spiritual giftedness
– protection – specifically in health (since we are all living together things will be passed from person to person really easily)
