As it gets closer and closer to Training Camp (only a week away! Yikes!) the fact that I am about to embark on this crazy, amazing, life changing journey becomes more and more real.
Before now, the World Race has been something looming on my horizon. Something that when asked about it I say something along the lines of “Yeah I’m excited but its still a long way away.” I assure my students (and myself) that I still have plenty of time here to hang out and do fun things. But the journey has started. The time is now. In a few short days I will finally meet the people that I will spend the next year living in community with.
Am I nervous? Obviously. Have I procrastinated on getting all the gear I need before next week? Naturally. Am I excited to meet my family for next year? Absolutely.
This is real. Starting in January I will go to 11 months in 11 countries doing mission work and showing Jesus to the World. I will carry a backpack with all my belongings in it. I will eat crazy food. I will encounter different cultures. I will practice Christianity in a completely new way.
And its possible because of you. I want to thank each and every one of you who have donated whether it was a t-shirt or bracelet or check. My prayer since I committed to the World Race was that if God wanted me on this trip He would make it happen. Since then I have seen Him work in your generous donations and kind words of encouragement. I am so thankful to have people in my life who not only want to support me financially but are committed to encouraging me, especially when I am feeling discouraged or anxious.
I can’t wait to share in amazing adventure with you. Let’s go.
