the last day we had in iquitos it rained and rained and rained.
it rained so much that the water was coming up from the ground.
streets were closed off.
homes were being flooded.
as we tried to make our way back home (we were in a bus) we thought we had found a good street to go down…it wasn´t closed off and the water didn´t look very deep.
BUT WE WERE WRONG!
as we made our way through the street water began to come up through the floor…we all stand to our feet.
as we push through the water we begin to make a huge wave that tramples over motorcycles, knocks down doors of people´s homes, and makes it´s way into each house we pass by.
the water was so deep it rose up past the windshield in the front of the bus.
then the bus stops. it can´t go any further.
so we take the rest of the journey by foot.
it´s fun walking through streets not knowing were you are putting your feet…yes, some of us fell…it was hilarious.
