A certain task is required as a new World Racer. We write a letter to inform our friends, family and others we hold dear to us about the new path we are taking. I started my support letter right away and had multiple people review what I wrote. From friends to co-workers; even my english professor looked over my support letter! (Thank you Ms. Nadess!) I’ll have to admit that I am not too savvy with my writing skills. This blog here is even taking me out of my comfort zone. But after days of writing, deleting, and reviews I finally had the “perfect letter.”

God had truly blessed me with connections to help me start my fresh journey with the World Race. My boss that I work with at the JJC printers services was so kind to help me print a multitude of these letters out. It was a great relief off of my shoulders seeing them all printed out, and even folded, by the machine. Everything was running smoothly! I started looking through the last of the letters that were printing. My eyes met the section of the paper where I talk about the countries I’ll be headed towards and I noticed a itsy-bitsy typo on my once so flawless letter. This tiny typo wasn’t something I could brush off my shoulder and send anyway..I wrote down the WRONG COUNTRY. Oh no! I can’t send out news that important and tell them the wrong country! How silly of me!

Now just to make things clear to all you fellow readers. I am confidently telling you that I will be making my way to Guatemala, Lesotho, and Cambodia. I REPEAT; Guatemala, Lesotho, and Cambodia. Exciting right? (:

A new obstacle was set infront of me. It was too late and too much work to reprint the letters.. So I thought of the next best thing. White-out! I decided to go through each letter, and one-by-one I would white-out the wrong country. Then of course I had to write down the correct country by hand. What a tedious project to write “Guatemala” over and over again. I would have to re-white-out my handwriting when the letters weren’t small or clear enough. I knew for sure I would not forget which countries I would be going to now. They were basically engraved in my mind after each letter I fixed. After a few days; a total of maybe 10 hours or so, and a cramped hand I was finally finished! And on to the next process of getting these letters out there. Sorry for such a delayed letter..

You’re probably wondering why I’m telling you such a goofy story. Well during these many hours of constant white out and strategic handwriting I realized that my mistake was more of a blessing. I felt that God was teaching patience. I was so excited to get these letters out to everyone and start the process of being a “world racer” that I didn’t stop to look at the details. And sometimes the tiniest details are the most valuable out of everything else. I said a prayer with every letter that I fixed; thanking Him for my realization and slowing me down. And I asked to keep me at a steady pace throughout this journey, where I could keep my focus on whats important.

Have you ever tried to look down at the road when you’re sprinting really fast? (Even when you’re driving your car) You cannot see the details of the gravel and asphalt like you do if you were standing still or moving slowly. The faster you move, the more obscured your vision is. What’s the point of my day or even life if I move through tasks so fast that my Savior is a blur? Sometimes it takes a moment of realization (or even a typo) to remind yourself that Jesus is your main focus and you need to slow down to obtain that.
