Something God keeps teaching me is how to love people and trust His plans, more often now than ever before. I could tell you countless stories where He’s given me these opportunities but that would take a good while.. we can go out for lunch when I can get back for that talk!! For now, here’s one story I get to be a part of for a while.
In Malawi, my team partnered with a feeding program in a village full of much poverty. Most of the kids don’t eat much more that what they receive from their meal a day here.
I met a special little boy in my times I spent here. Christian is his name, he’s 8 years old, and he has the cutest curly hair when grown out. He wears extremely tattered clothes that were usually falling off of him, and you can tell he doesn’t bathe often, but he sure is a cutie.
A few weeks after meeting him, my heart was being pulled in so many different directions as I learned his story. Christian’s mother was a rape victim and also is mentally ill. He was sent to relative’s house where he isn’t taken well care of. He doesn’t eat more than what he receives from the feeding program and he’s behind in school due to lack of nutrition. He usually doesn’t have soap to bathe or wash his clothes. Christian doesn’t have a sponsorship at the feeding program due to some unforeseen issues of this broken world we live in. But the good God we have, placed a woman in his life at the program who gives him the meals daily as she sees the need.
As my heart broke for this little boy, I asked my host how I could be of help to him on a long term basis. Blessings gave me a few options that I prayed about for a while and God gave me very clear answers.
This Monday, Christian was enrolled into a boarding school where He receives a great education, fulfilling meals, soap, and a place to sleep.
As I feared such a commitment to send this boy to school for a number of years, the Lord brought up an airlines voucher I received from one of my flights which was the exact cost of the program for a year with the exception of some extra outside costs that my parents so graciously wanted to take care of. God straight up said, “Would I give you so many confirmations, the story of this boy, and the heart you have if I wasn’t calling you to make a change? I’ve given you the resources you need.”
So with absolutely nothing to argue, I obeyed and will continue to obey as the Lord continues to provide. My host has assured me that Christians first week was going well and he is doing great.
I am so excited for the changes that will be made in Christians life and the plans the Lord has for him. It’s so fun, what God calls us into, and even better when we trust what He’s doing.
Christian does need a lot of prayer poured into his life, for provision, blessings, and the love of the Father to be poured into him as he grows up. Prayers are also much needed for the multiples of children just like Christian who need the Father’s love on such a deep level.
Please be in prayer & always love people. Thank you for reading my blog!!
