I packed frantically, shoving clothes left and right into my backpack as I tried to think what I could possibly be forgetting for the trip. We were leaving earlier than expected because of the icy road conditions and I hadn’t packed a thing. Classic Lynn. Hoping that I had the essentials, I grabbed my pack and Mikala and I prepared to hike up the icy drive and out to the road to catch our ride when we got word that our flight was cancelled because of the weather conditions.
No Guatemala. I was pretty disappointed.
Instead of enjoying the sunny, warm weather of Guatemala and the beauty poured out by the Creator over the Lake Atitlan area, I spent the day snowed in with my roommates. Cooking together, laughing together, sliding rapidly down the drive on a huge dry erase board, talking about Jesus, and welcoming Benny, Angie, and Kohen home. I got to look outside and see the author of creation in the snow, spend the day with people I love, and listen to people talk about what God is doing in their lives. There was coffee. There was pie. It was a beautiful, magical, Jesus filled day. I can honestly say it was a gift to be here even though Guatemala had to be put on hold. At the end of the day, God is always good.
We just set a new date for the trip, March 21-28. And the great thing is that now all of worship tract has the opportunity to go. We’re hoping for 20 people to be able to go down instead of just 7. A lot of us are struggling to raise funds, so pray for God’s provision over this trip. Thanks!!!!
