Over the
last week in Kitale, Kenya and also during these first few days in
Iringa, Tanzania, I’ve realized a few things that I want to share
with you guys!
First, as
I watched and worshipped along-side Kitale Growth Church, it was
absolutely amazing to me how they cried out to God. Even in between
songs they called out to God in prayer. They called out as one
corporate body, unified in Christ. They cry, bow, and get on their
knees; begging God for needs, and praising Him for who He is.
It dawned
on me that maybe so many in our churches at home don’t cry out like
this because we live in a country of such luxury. It’s not very
often that we are inclined to cry out and beg God for our next meal
or money for our children to go to the doctor. Many of us (myself
included) although we wouldn’t consider ourselves rich, do have all
of the comforts we desire…always more than enough food, clothing,
running water, electricity, etc. We are not in need of the bare
necessities, therefore many times we don’t think about crying out
in desperation to our Abba (Heavenly Dad) to take care of those
things. We think we can do them ourselves.
Psalm
16:1-2, “I love the Lord because He has heard my appeal for mercy.
Because He has turned down His ear to me, I will call out to Him as
long as I live.
