“The Devil’s singing over me an age
old song, that I am cursed and gone astray. Singing the first verse so conveniently over me. He’s forgotten the refrain: Jesus saves!
-Shane and Shane (Embracing Accusations)
In almost each country
that we’ve visited so far, the people have put a huge emphasis on being a “born
again Christian. In the U.S. we
generally just say that we are Christians, and either assume that people know
that we are born again…or don’t think they would understand this “church
lingo. However, this phrase is
absolutely vital to our faith.
Without being born again which includes dying to ourselves and being
reborn in Christ…our faith is pointless.
In the Philippines I met
a woman named Bing. She was kind
of the caretaker of the hotel that we stayed in for the month. One night we got into a discussion
about “born again Christians vs. “Catholic Christians in that country. Although she wasn’t born again, she
still said, “Born again Christians are the real Christians. She was absolutely right. Let’s begin to own that “born again
part and be adamant about people knowing it and understanding why that is so
important to us!
