The summer after my freshman year of college I got the opportunity to travel to Ukraine for a mission trip. This was the first time I left the country and I was extremely nervous. When our group got to the place we were serving in Ukraine there were some women already serving. They were on this thing called The World Race. At the time I didn’t know how this small meeting would change my ideas for my future.
(Amanda, Misty, and Kate were three of the women I got to meet)
After leaving that trip I became really inspired by these women and the small amount of time I got to spend with them. They were so passionate about their journey and they all came from different places in life. Not one of those women had the same story, but they were all brought together by the call to abandon everything and join the race. It wasn’t until later that I thought this was something I could also do. As I have gotten closer to graduation the World Race has been something my best friend Holley and I could not stop talking about (she’s also going, yay!). I have lived a pretty comfortable life throughout college and I want to let that go. I want to be uncomfortable. I want to go out a be a part of something bigger than myself. It’s not that I am expecting to change everyone’s life that I meet, but I want to follow the call to be the hands and feet of God. I pray that through me God’s light will shine and through this trip I will also see God in others. I ask that you pray for my team and I as we go through this journey.
Isaiah 6:8 “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!'”
