“So what’s next?” or “What are your plans after the World Race?” are common questions circulating the squad and I am beginning to hear it from others as well. It is a legitimate question that most of us would like to have a concrete answer to. Sometimes the Lord specifically gives direction and other times he asks for us to wait. I was expecting to come home with random ideas but with no direction and solely waiting on the Lord to reveal that when I arrived home.
I have always been a future planner to default with a billion back-up plans, but earlier this year I felt God telling me to just trust Him and not make any plans in my mind. He would direct and I just needed to wait. That surrender began a new dependency on the Lord that I haven’t had in the past. At the end of June, the Lord planted the thought of Squad Leading on my heart.
Squad Leading is where alumni come back to lead a new squad. They are typically on the field for 5 months to set culture, direct, mentor and love on the squad. The idea had crossed my mind before, but this time, God said “January”.
I said no.
He planted it again.
After struggling with the Lord on it for a couple weeks, I kept sensing Him pushing me toward applying so I stepped out, trusting that I was obeying what He was asking me to do. After applying and having a series of interviews, I am excited to share that
I will be launching in January with a new squad to serve as a Squad Leader for the first 5 months of their Race!
I am so excited for what the Lord will bring in this next season. The process in itself has changed and grown my relationship and trust in the Lord. Squad leading will be completely different than my Race this year because although I will be serving and joining into ministry, my focus and ministry will be the squad and their Spiritual, emotional and personal health.
You may be wondering how I will be provided for financially. It will be $3500 for me to be on the field for 5 months. Thanks to the Lord’s faithfulness and your generosity, I am $2000 over my original needed amount for this year! This means that I only have $1500 left to raise in order to be able to lead my new squad in January. Once again, I am blown away and incredibly grateful for the Lord’s faithfulness! God is good and I can’t wait to see 50+ more of my generation join together as I help lead them towards Christ and to the nations.
