Through a series of events we met some people who gave us rides to church last week. It was quite and ordeal because there are 20 of us and we were living in country about 25-30mins from Mayagez. Expecting a small church, we were surprised when we walked into an over 300 person church. Although my Spanish is poor, the worship was so beautiful and meaningful. God works despite language. It was truly beautiful to experience the Holy Spirit uniting the different languages and cultures. It didn’t seem strange. The sermon was more challenging to pick up words and phrases, but I was inspired by the passion and desire for the Lord. These people know how to love God and to live and love passionately.
We met a handful of the youth from the church and some of them gave us rides. We ended up spending the rest of the day and evening with them, singing, dancing and fellowshipping. The next evening they drove out to pick us up to get milkshakes. Again, we spent the night worshipping and singing. Even though we barely knew eachother, our groups shared a deep connection rooted in Christ. Their love, desire and pure hearts for Jesus are inspiring and rejuvenating. Despite many obstacles in their lives, they possess such a love for the Lord. I want that. Manuel, Carolina, Shara, Brenda, Jonathan, Pedro, Jocsan, Frankie, Galdi, and Hector, I love you all and am so blessed to know you! I am better for it.
