Here is a quick video that my squadmate Peggy Cheng made about our ministry last week!
Last week we were able to go to the community of Los Pinos, where most of the boys who live at our ministry site are from, and work on a house that belongs to the mother of one of the boys. Last week we replaced the basically non-existent boards holding up three of the corners of the house.
While half of us worked, the other half was able to visit homes in the community and to pray with people and build relationships. The first day we visited the grandmother of two of our boys, a beautiful lady that our squad leader had visited a day or two before. She had been sick in bed, barely able to move because of great pain in her stomach. They had prayed for healing over her. When we returned she greeted us with open arms and a smiling face, standing up strongly and telling us that there was no more pain.
I also had the opportunity yesterday to return with the teams which are working on the house this week and help them finish painting it a happy green and yellow. The house can now be seen from the bottom of the hill as a testimony of what God has done in the lives of those that live there. I pray that one day God allows me to come back to Los Pinos to see all the things that He will have done in this place.
This week we have been working on the property we live on to help our contact realize his vision for the place. I have pulled a lot of big rocks out of the ground! We have also been helping at the school just below the property. About six or seven people on our squad have been teaching English and music at the school, so our two teams have been helping them out in the mornings. God is working powerfully this month, both tangibly through tilled soil and painted houses and intangibly through conversations and hugs given to school children and teens on the street.
