I’ve been here for a little over a month now, and a lot of stuff has been changing but the one thing that has been constant has been my host! On the race we often hear “You typically get a good host and bad ministry, or a good ministry and a bad host, it is very rare to get both that are good” My team was the lucky team- we have a great ministry and a wonderful host. From day one him and his family welcomed us in with so much love. The way he talks to us and treats us is always kind. Our host and his family are the main reason why I love Malaysia!
The Lord has truly blessed me with wonderful host family! Coming into Malaysia I was very concerned with how I would handle a new host family. In my last country my team and I struggled a lot with our host. It was never a loving relationship. We had to wake up everyday and choose to love our host, it didn’t come naturally. We always had take it day by day and see the good in our host instead of the bad. The Lord did a 180 bringing me here now where I have not only a host, but I have a family!
We weren’t even here for 48 hours yet when he came over and he called us all into his office. He sat us all down, closed the door and said “there has already been a complaint, my heart dropped, I was thinking of everything I could have done that would lead to a complaint and then he goes just kidding my wife made tea, you are coming to my house!” We get over there and it wasn’t just tea it was French toast and Hersey kisses too! I was so overwhelmed I stared to cry, it was so sweet of him to not only invite us to his house but to also cook for us when he doesn’t even know us! It is so refreshing to have a good host, someone who care for us and who can pour into us with so much love and kindness!
Our host has truly become our family and I love each of them with all my heart! I love how Pastor Tomas is always pursuing the Lord with everything he has, he will occasionally call us and be like “I’m coming over, we’re going to have worship and pray for one another”! I love how he always makes sure we’re full- he will bring us food for breakfast usually it’s donuts or he brings us dinner. I love his wife Shamala she doesn’t just want us to be a host, team relationship she wants us to be family- she even invites us over for family movie nights! She is always making sure we’re doing good in our ministry and in our daily life she always checking in on us! I love Zach their oldest son who is always answering our silly questions and making a joke out of everything to make us laugh! I love their middle child Misha who is a little quiet but when you get her talking she just goes on and on! She’s so young but she truly has a heart for the Lord and she inspires me more and more to have a better relationship with the Lord. I love their youngest daughter Felisha who is full of love, she’s always happy! I remember the first day I met her. Me and my team were downstairs and we heard a knock at the door and it was Pastor Thomas’s family. He walked in and she was standing at the door watching us. I didn’t know what to say so I just opened my arms and she ran right to them and sat in my lap! I can’t wait to see what else I can learn from this host family!
I can’t say it enough but I love our host family very much! They have truly had an impact on me and my team! My team did get very lucky coming here with a great ministry and a wonderful host who has now become our family. When you least expect it the lord puts people in your life who will make a big difference in your life!
