So yeah. Here we are 4 days in and LOVING it. I mean totally. We are building houses for people to live in. They aren’t much but they are sooo happy to see us and thank us over and over when we are finished. The people here are very friendly. It is great. The kids just can’t get enough of us. They LOVE my tattoos. They are just memorized by them. Always lifting my shirt up to see them. They are always braiding the girls hair or climbing all over us. We get up around 530 and work til about noon then we get lunch, which has consisted of rice and beans and our typical warm water. It is hard to get used to but you don’t ever get anything cold to drink.Except for the most wonderful passion fruit juice we get for dinner that is made fresh right before dinner!!  I mean sometimes it’s just plain HOT. But it’s water and it is very necessary here. You sweat like KArazy. And let me go back to the whole 530 in the morning thing. It gets dark here at 730 and the sun comes up at around 530 and since we are sleeping outside the sun wakes me up. And there is a dog here named Pooch, which is totally my next dogs name. bam He is very good at barking at ANYONE who walks by the beach. So this morning, the 13th, I was up at 450 and was able to watch the sunrise while reading some good ol Word. Twas nice. So I guess thank you Pooch. And of course I got some sweet pics but we aren’t able to upload things here since the office is limited by a daily bandwidth. So if we go over then they are screwed. So you will just have to wait. HA

So it is day 4 and our family is opening up exponentially daily. I am loving it. We have the pleasure of having a logistics person with us the first few days. He left last night. It was truly a blessing to have him around and just talk with him and see what his race was like and how God is constantly changing his life and everything.  We are equally blessed to have one of our amazing squad leaders, Kyla “bam” Cornelius. She is amazing. Talk about a woman in tune with God. She is also quite hilarious. I think she got it from me these few days. And has brought a great thing to the team. She has shown us that you can have fun and still love God. I thank God for her.

So we are getting our clothes washed for the month by the ladies that are cooking us our delicious breakfast and dinners. They wash them in a local stream and then lay them out on the beach to dry. I got a nice pic of all our clothes from the past 2 weeks out on the beach. You’ll have to wait on that one too….lol.

And I have been growing closer to God as I had hoped and it’s only day 4 being out in our ministries. I am so pumped to see what he has in store for me! We will be leaving on the 31st I believe and heading back to the DR. We don’t get much of an opportunity to get onto the internet this month if you haven’t noticed. So we are blogging at the beach and flash driving it (yes that is a verb now) so when we get a chance to go to the office we will have them all and can do out thang.

Things are good. It is hot sometimes but God usually provides a breeze to cool us off. You kind of “get used to it” but the sun is intense sometimes. The kids here run around barefoot and it is amazing to see. I mean like run and jump out of trucks and play soccer and just I mean do everything. I would be down and out after the first pebble or share blade of grass. And they are always yelling at us and waving and just smiling. I think there is a lot we could learn from them. As Kyla mentioned sometimes, or even most of the time we over do things. That life is actually quite simple, but since we have like everything at our finger tips we just over indulge in things and create so much unnecessary things in our life. If we didn’t have all that crap we could focus more on God and be so much happier. Just knowing that God provides all that we need to do what we need. He does what we need and answers our prayers if we would have the ability to listen to his voice and not all the other things that we have going on. So I challenge you to take time in your day to simply simplify.

So til next time. I hope you are all doing great and I love you all!

p.s.—-Nancy how is Chloe? Hope she is doing well!
