We have made it to Tak Fa, Thailand; my home for the next three months. The journey was a long one, we flew from Atlanta, Georgia–>Dallas, Texas–>Doha, Qatar–>Bangkok, Thailand. Upon arrival in Bangkok we stayed at a YWAM base for two days to rest up and learn about the culture before traveling to our ministry sites across the country. When we were in Bangkok I had a lot of fun! The first evening a few of us took a short bus ride to a grocery store. We got what we needed and hopped back on the same bus. A hot, smelly bus that drove us nearly 3 hours around the city before taking us back to the YWAM base. Talk about a good first experience with a language barrier and public transportation. Our last night in Bangkok some squadmates and I decided to go to downtown Bangkok. We hopped on a bus and kept telling the driver the one Thai word we knew which was the name of our stop. (pretty sure we said it wrong every time. Thai is so hard!) We somehow got off at the right place and then took a tram 30 minutes one way. After realizing we missed our stop we rode the tram back for about 10 minutes where we got off and ran around looking at the city. I found a McDonalds, the preservatives in the food fixed my stomach for a few days! Haha. When we tried to get home our bus never came so we got in a taxi and just yelled Ramsung university! The driver said back, “Lamsung?” after that went back and forth for a while we just gave up and prayed. (turns out a “R” in Thai is pronounced like an “L”) We made it back to the base late, but safe. Now I am here in Tak Fa, three hours north of Bangkok teaching English and sharing the gospel in the local schools. Pray for soft hearts toward Jesus; the Buddhist influence here is so strong. Professing Christians make up 1.2% of the population. Pray for a generation of youth rise up and transform this lost nation. My team has been getting sick and a few injured, prayer for good health is much needed so we can perform at our best in the schools. God is going to do great things here!
Greater things to come,
