I have a tattoo on my foot that says “beloved.” It’s a daily
reminder to me that I am God’s beloved and he will never change his mind about
that. It reminds me of the love that God has for me and it’s a great reminder
on those bad days.
The other day I was at a Bible study that we go to for Josie’s
Angels (it is basically a program that pours life into the girls with bad home situations
in our neighborhood). I go to the Bible study every Tuesday and its been so
awesome getting to know the girls that come. We usually split up into groups
and do small group type discussion. The girls that I have gotten to talk with
are absolutely incredible.
This week, one of the girls that was in my group asked me
about my tattoo. I explained to her that it said “beloved” because I am God’s
beloved. She sat there for a moment looking at me and then asked, “will you put
it on my foot?” It practically took my breath away. Here is a girl that has
experienced great pain and hardship in her life, yet she sees the truth in the
word beloved for her. She wanted to claim it as truth in her life.
The truth is that we are each God’s beloved. He loves us
with an everlasting love and he will never let us go. It’s a timeless truth
that God speaks over each and every one of his children. When we claim that
truth for ourselves, it changes everything.
