We’ve been in Nairobi for 2 days now. We got here early Sunday morning and had an amazing day of rest. We relaxed and (some of us) showered. Some of us even walked to a coffee house a few blocks away from our hostel and got an afternoon lunch/snack. God definitely knew what he was doing when he took that day of rest during creation. It was incredible.

Our traveling was pretty uneventful considering other World Race travel days. It was a total of 34 hours total and we ended up in a time zone 7 hours ahead of what we came from. No wonder all of us are exhausted. But if anyone ever asks, I would definitely recommend Qatar Airlines. They have amazing staff and some pretty great food. And I got to watch Fast Five on the way over. Excellent decision. I definitely slept great last night. I was on the bottom bunk and I never felt a thing when my teammate in the top bunk got into her bed. Apparently when she got into bed the bed shook a whole lot, so I guess I was really tired.

My favorite thing about traveling is meeting different people. You should see the crazy looks we get when 44 of us try to get on public transportation with packs and daypacks. Its pretty priceless. When we were on the way to the airport in DC, I was at the back of the bus and my teammate Brian and I were sitting next to this guy who was in the corner seat. This poor guy was wedged in the back corner surrounded by all of us. He told us it was going to be the most memorable part of his day. He even took pictures to document it. Its moments like that that I love. The people that you get to meet and the conversations that you get to have with people when you travel. Its awesome hearing people’s stories and we have definitely heard a lot of those this weekend.

My team is traveling to Kakamega tomorrow morning where we will meet our contact for this month. We are all pretty excited to find out more about what we will be doing and the people we will be serving and getting to know this month. Its so exciting to finally be here! I love it so much.
