I was talking to a good friend last night and we were discussing the WR. This lead to a discussion about my squad. I don’t know if you have noticed but people that go on the World Race are really impressive. Pictures with African children, stories of miracles, blogs of previous adventures, and testiments of extraordinary faith are the norm for racers. I was telling my friend how I don’t have stories like theirs and she stopped me before I got completely consumed in my insecurities and asked me why I wanted to go. I told her I wanted to be in the presence of God. I wanted to intimately know the Spirit. Don’t get me wrong, I am SO excited to travel and serve and learn but I just want MORE of God.
Then my friend did what she always does when I am completely blinded by my insecurities and started to laugh at me. She said, “Liiiiiiiz I think you are in a perfect place. Do you not see how perfectly placed you are right now?” It was then that the story of Mary and Martha came to me. This is what Jesus said to Martha,
“My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken from her.”Luke 10:41-42
I want to be like Mary. I don’t want to be worried and upset over details or insecurities. My God can take care of the details. I want to be concerned with one thing, Jesus. The great news is that God PROMISES that if we seek him we will find.
“And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, rceives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. You fathers–if your children ask for a fish, do you give them a snack instead? Or if they ask for an egg, do you give them a scorpion? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him. Luke 11:9-13
I am asking for prayers because satan loves to come at me through my insecurities but lies will ALWAYS be conquered by Jesus.
