Friends and Family,
I trust each of you is doing well! I have been in a transition period as I recently graduated from Elon and just started a job as a full-time nanny in Charlotte. It was hard to leave Elon with all of the things I learned and ways I changed while I was there, but I am so thankful for all God did in and through me in that period of my life! I am sad it is over, but I know it is time to look onward. As I have been asking the Lord where He’d have me go after school, His answer has been clear. I am writing to give you the opportunity to participate in what God has asked me to do in my next year of life.
I have
felt called to international missions since I was 16 years old, and I believe it is time for me to go. I had the opportunity to go to Swaziland this past summer and work with AIDS orphans and widows, and God’s tug on my heart for the least of the least and for those who have never heard the name of Jesus was confirmed and strengthened. I know there are millions of people like my friend Thuli from Swaziland, who has had two husbands die of AIDS and whose biggest prayer is that her children will be taken care of when she dies too. She finds hope in Jesus, but I know there are many more who suffer as much and have never heard of Him. As I have laid different mission programs before the Lord there is one that kept returning. The World Race, through Adventures in Missions, is a missionary training program that will take me to eleven countries in eleven months to proclaim the gospel and care for the poor. I will also be discipled and trained in different areas of ministry.
I would be honored if you would support me however you feel led, whether that be in prayer or financially. I pray this would not be a burden to you, but that you will be thrilled and encouraged along with me by God’s goodness. I need to raise $17,000 in order to leave at the end of September. This sounds like a lot of money, but if one person gives $5,000, five people give $1,000, five people give $500, 20 people give $100, 40 people give $50, and 20 people give $25 I will reach my goal. Would you ask God what He’d have you give?
I truly want you to look at the nations and watch with me – I am sure that we both will come away utterly amazed! For God is doing something in our days that we would not believe even if told (Habakkuk 1:5). I want to look with my own eyes, and I want you to witness it through my eyes too. That is why I will be keeping a blog (an online journal) of all that I see and experience as I travel. It is my hope that through this journey we will both know the scriptures and power of God better (Mark 12:24). I am excited about this opportunity and hope that you will take part in it too!
Joyfully His,
Elizabeth Adcock
