About 2 months ago, during our time in Cambodia, we were sent a document telling us about the details of our “Ask The Lord” month. The document told us that our budget would be $100 less per person and that we were to venture into unknown areas never explored by The World Race. It was a mixed feeling of excitement and fear that we had to really listen where exactly God wanted us to be in Asia, whom we’d be serving, how we would stay in budget and what we would do. We began to pray as a team and ask God where He would like us to go. God didn’t give us dreams or speak audibly to us, but He definitely moved and through a contact in Cambodia, who had a friend in Malaysia, who had a friend in Indonesia we were set. So here we are in Batam, Indonesia. In a matter of month, through communication on Facebook, the details were set up, plane tickets were bought and a schedule was sent. It was quite an easy process to be honest and I believe that is because the Lord’s hand was all over it.
We have been beyond blessed since arriving in Indonesia. The ministry we are working with is called Promised Land Ministry
and there is a lot going on here. The location we are staying at has a Church (English & Bahasa), a Bible College, a School, a House of Refuge and an Orphanage. Basically they have 5 houses in a gated neighborhood that the Lord gave to them through a Muslim. I love how God works! Pastor Johanas is a man of great faith who radiates Christ. He loves to laugh and bless all around him and He gives freely. He has seen God move in miraculous ways in his own life.
The majority of our time here has been spent at Elsadai School. In the mornings we can be found in Playgroup, K1 or K2 and occasionally teaching an English or Science class to the primary level. The school is taught in English, which makes it easy for us to join in and teach them songs and games. The kids are wild, crazy and precious all at the same time and they love Miss Boulet’s (American’s). I have the upmost respect for all kindergarten and pre-school teachers…I am really not sure how you do it. In the afternoons we spend time working on English with the teachers and teaching them more games and songs that they can play with their students. I know a large part of our role here has been to simply come alongside these teachers and love and encourage them. At night we have visited different homecell groups, attended services or shared meals with the Pastor’s and their wives.
