Everyday they walk. Rain or shine they walk. These children walk barefoot for up to 8 kilometers each day to receive meals, education, and affection at the care points. They walk alone or with younger siblings strapped to their backs.
Today’s trip is different. Today they are trading in their filthy, hole-filled shoes for a shiny new pair of Nikes or Crocs. This is a moment of KINGDOM invading Swaziland!
All the kids & go-gos lined up to get new shoes
Nearly 600 hundred children and go-gos are lined up all around the platform. We have set up twelve foot washing stations. Each child that comes has his feet washed, is prayed over, and is given a new pair of shoes. Today is a day that every child is seen, known, and loved individually. The love of Jesus is meeting each of these children exactly where they are today.
Washing the feet of precious little girl
I love taking their tiny dirt-covered feet in my hands and gently washing them, getting to know the children, and telling them about God’s amazing love.
Me praying with one of the beautiful girls
I love looking into their eyes and praying over them for protection, for provision, for health, and that Jesus will reveal Himself to them. I love the smile that spreads across each child’s face as they receive a brand new pair of shoes. I love how they keep looking down at the colorful shoes and cannot suppress their joy. I love embracing each girl and telling her again that Jesus loves her so much before sending her home.
This is a beautiful day of His Kingdom coming to earth. I’m so grateful to be a part of it.
