On Thursday
morning we had the opportunity to visit the Mayan ruins here in Palenque. It
was incredible to see and experience such a huge piece of Palenque’s history.
The Mayan culture has such as affect on the language, culture, and religion of
the city. There are still many Mayan descendants here in the city, several
Mayan dialects are still widely spoken, and there is a deeply rooted
spiritualism that stems from the ancient Mayan religion. These aspects of the
culture are profoundly embedded within this society.
It
was interesting to be in a place of so much history and beauty. We had a
wonderful time exploring the ruins and just entertaining ourselves. Enjoy this
