As I was sitting in the Miami airport surrounded by piles of luggage and teammates sleeping on their sleeping pads, I was journaling my thoughts about leaving for the Race. I finished my journal entry with this line: LET THE ADVENTURE BEGIN! And it certainly has…
After 7 hours of flights, 12 hours of airport layovers, one night sleeping in the Miami airport, discovering that all of our team bank accounts had been cancelled, dinner made of bananas, peanut butter, and tortillas, 11 hour bus ride, one night sleeping on the bus, 2.5 hours with the bus broken down on the side of the road, a 30 minute taxi ride, and ending with 20 people and packs piled in the pack of a pick-up truck, we finally made it to Palenque!
This month we are staying at the Shekinah Bible school in Palenque which is run by our wonderful hosts, Eleazar and Marta. They moved to Palenque 6 years ago with the vision to provide free theological training for Central American pastors who have often had little or no training.
This first week we are getting acclimated to Mexican culture, praying walking in the city, beginning to build relationships with the people of Palenque, and continuing our training.
Ways you can pray for us
1. Pray for unity. There is such a spirit of division in Palenque. There is division among denominations as well as language and cultural barriers. Pray that our teams will remain unified and be able to bring unity in the city.
2. Pray that the Lord will continue to provide to Eleazar and Marta.
3. Pray for us as we are continuing training. Pray that we will be open to the Lord´s teaching and diligent in seeking His truth.
4. Pray that we will begin to build meaningful relationships with the people here.
Thank you all for your prayers and support! I am loving Mexico and hopefully I will have pictures and more stories posted soon when I have more internet time.
