During the summer I had the opportunity to travel to Turkey & Iran with a group from my church. We spent the first half of our trip in Turkey. While we were there we encouraged, prayed with, worshipped with, and fellowshipped with Iranian believers living in Turkey. Then we traveled to three cities in Iran prayer walking, interceding for the Iranian people.

Before leaving for this trip the Lord gave a verse to one of the couples on our team. Joshua 1:3 “I will give you every place that you set your foot, as I promised Moses.” They felt the Lord telling them to literally go and set their foot in those areas proclaiming them as a land set apart for the Lord. So, we as a team went, holding fast to the Lord’s promise in Joshua, and began walking the land. We prayed for freedom for the oppressed, truth to reign, and that as the people are in the mosques seeking god that Jesus will reveal Himself as the True and Living God.

This week, back in Atlanta, my church was celebrating our missions festival, a time of encouraging our missionaries and hearing testimonies of the work that the Lord is doing among the nations. During this time our team was able to reconnect with the leader of the underground church in Iran. It was wonderful to see this dear brother again and to hear how the Lord has been moving since we have left Iran. As he was sharing, he was telling of the growth in the house churches in Iran. He was telling us that the churches have now spread from their base city to two other cities in Iran. The amazing thing is that the church has spread to the other two cities where we walked and prayed.

We serve a Lord who is completely faithful to His promises! “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23. In faith, we walked the land proclaiming freedom and proclaiming that people in these cities would turn to the Living God. Now, just 8 months after our trip, there are churches in the cities where we walked. The Lord is giving us the land where we set our feet, just as He promised Moses. Praise the Lord!! “Not to us, O Lord, but to Your name be the glory because of Your love and faithfulness.” Psalm 115:1.

*Continue to pray for the nation of Iran that light will break forth in the darkness, that both spiritual and physical oppression will be replaced with freedom, and that the people will come to know the Living God. Also, pray for the church in Iran for protection, boldness, and that the Lord would raise up a generation of leaders and pastors for the growing churches.
