Once again, this is my “raw and honest blog series, where I
pick a topic and I write what comes to mind: transparent, honest, and maybe
offensive to your very core beliefs… but here goes. Be aware: I tend to use
“we a lot when I throw out assumptions of the world: this includes me.

The key to life:

Romans 10:9 (The Message/Remix)

Say the welcoming word
to God — “Jesus is my masterâ€ — embracing, body and soul, God’s work of doing
in us what he did in raising Jesus from the dead. That’s it. You’re not “doing
anything. You’re simply calling out to God, trusting Him to do it for you.
That’s salvation.

I don’t know why we are all so obsessed with who goes to heaven.

What about life NOW?

Yeah…
you say, what about life Now?!

Let’s turn the tables on the whole “heaven thing.

Let’s change it to “heaven on earth like we find in
the Lord’s Prayer.

If you have salvation
(the thing we are all so concerned with) then you should also have
life. But do you?!

I think that’s the difference in people who strive to follow
God and those who don’t.

Now, that may come off a little judgmental, but I think
that’s the simple truth.

Jesus came to give us life
and life to the fullest. I don’t
think that’s only referring to the afterlife.
I think it is referring to the nowlife.

Jesus also said He is “the
way, the truth, and the life.

The Way: Yeah, we’ve got a handle on that one I
think. Christians know Jesus is the only way to heaven and want to make sure
everyone knows. A little sarcastic yes, but let’s continue.

The Truth: Ya, The Word of God, yo. Every bit of the
scripture is God-breathed and it’s our sword against the principalities of this
dark world. Check.

The Life: BINGO. He gave HIS so we
may have OURS. NOW.

But what about all those responsibilities Jesus left for us?
Those “rules? Those aren’t “fun.

This is what I think
about the “rules: In the end, following them builds character and gives you life. And please trust me when I tell
you this: the Christian life is WAY “fun.
For Reals. Serious bizz man. It’s awesome!

I also think in the
end, when we follow Jesus, we’ll have a grasp on the fruits of the Spirit. While life isn’t fair, and while we still go
through tragedies and hard times
, we get life gifts. God calls these the fruits of the Spirit. When people
look in our eyes, they’ll see love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. People will know we found the key to life and want to know how they
too can have it.

I think in the end,
when we see heaven, we can say WOW, my life was a window to heaven.

Is that too much of a hope?
